Doing What Works: Integrating Lived Experience and Clinical Evidence in Holistic Addiction Treatment
Abstract
In alignment with the theme “whole person, whole system, from hope to action,” this presentation explores how Hader Clinic Queensland has evolved its integrated model of AOD treatment to meet the complex needs of individuals and their families. Drawing on clinical data, psychometric outcomes, and lived experience perspectives, this session highlights how evidence-informed practices combined with compassionate, person-centred approaches can lead to measurable change and sustainable recovery.
Since its establishment in 2016, Hader Clinic Queensland has continually refined its service model across detox, residential rehabilitation, and aftercare programs. This presentation will discuss the clinical implications of these program developments, including how digital health and routine psychometric testing (pre- and post-treatment) have provided tangible evidence of improved mental health and wellbeing.
The session will also reflect on the value of embedding lived experience across all levels of treatment, from program design to delivery, as a mechanism to bridge the gap between hope and action. Attendees will gain practical insight into how integrated systems and a whole-person focus can enhance recovery outcomes and service delivery quality.
