Comprehensive economic snapshot of Northern Australia
Abstract
A decade since the release of the Our North Our Future Whitepaper on Developing Northern Australia, how have we grown in comparison to the grand aspiration envisioned in the Whitepaper?
Four years on from COVID-19 pandemic, how have Australia’s Northern communities changed compared our capital cities and other regional centres in the South? Is Northern Australia continuing to reap the benefits of the regionalisation push?
What has been driving growth in Northern Australia? Which industries and which regions are leading the way on growth? Which regions and industries are struggling and need the most support?
This keynote address will present data-driven insight into a comprehensive economic snapshot of Northern Australia, an economic health check on the Developing Northern Australia agenda.
Presented in a highly visual format using thematic mapping and a series of compelling and easy to understand graphs, this presentation will not just look at Northern Australia generally, but delve into Northern Australia’s 12 key sub-regions.
The data topics to be included range from economic, industry, population, labour force, migration and socio-demographic indicators.
Beyond a presentation of data and facts, this presentation will also include a range of key insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Northern Australia and its constituent regions which can be used to inform the pending refresh of the Northern Australia agenda.
Note to organisers: This presentation can help set the scene for DNAC2024, highlighting a range of economic and socio-demographic trends that are emerging and their implications on Northern Australia’s current and future economy and its many diverse communities.
This presentation can also be converted into a small handbook on the state of Northern Australia, co-branded with DNAC2024, to be made available for all delegates.
If commissioned independently, the cost of such a comprehensive economic profile would be up to $100,000.
