Trends of drug use across Australia and synthetic opioids (Nitazines)
Abstract
We will explore drug use trends across Australia, in particular looking at synthetic opiods such as nitazines and fentanyl. We look at wastewater testing results, ED presentations, workplace data, information from federal and state police and self reporting.
We will look at the chemistry, availability and effects of Nitazines and why they have made their way onto Australian shores.
The presentation includes education and ham minimization.

Biography
Dr Tynan is a Toxicologist and retired Clinical Biochemist Pathologist, a former Director of Clinical Biochemistry for the Hunter Area Pathology Service, Laverty and Healthscope Pathology, and is an expert in testing for substances of abuse. He is a published in internationally peer-reviewed journals and provides advice and expert opinion regarding results, expert witness testimony and appearances at courts and tribunal hearings as required. Belinda has over 25 years of experience in pathology and the drug and alcohol testing industry including knowledge and understanding of drug testing programs for workplace testing as well as government departments and major sporting groups.
