Why should Victims be Victimised Twice? (VIRTUAL)
Abstract
Protection Orders are not enough to stop a determined Perpetrator.
After having been through the trauma of achieving a Protection Order or ADVO, victims and their children may now face a new set of fears depending on the reaction of the Perpetrator.
Technology allows us to place both the Victim and Perpetrator into protective dynamic geofences, so wherever they are and wherever they go, we can see if they come within range of each other.
How this works, and how it helps protect, will be presented as part of a special event created to support ANZMH’s call for Strong Words, Stronger Actions.
A call for volunteers to participate in a live trial of Attenti’s equipment that monitors the distance between Victim and Perpetrator, allowing the Monitoring Centre to intervene, redirect and if necessary, call for emergency backup.
The results of a 3 day live trial will be demonstrated and Volunteers will speak freely about their experiences while on the system.
Does this equipment do what it claims? Does it give some feeling of protection to Victims and their children?
We will let the Volunteers speak from their own experience.
