Biography
Lea Emery is a senior reporter covering court and legal affairs for the Gold Coast Bulletin. She regularly reports on domestic violence issues, organised crime, sexual abuse and youth offending. Lea was named a 2021 Our Watch Fellow which is a program which helps journalists build and refine their knowledge of best-practice reporting on violence against women. In 2021 Lea was awarded a Clarion Award for Best Regional and Community News Story – print/text for a body of work exploring how women are impacted by domestic violence and the justice system. Biography
Sharmila Falzon is a primary prevention practitioner, a skilled facilitator and trainer with a passion for social justice and intersectional feminism. With 20 years professional experience, Sharmila has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Masters in Social Development. Sharmila has worked extensively within the not for profit sector as well as local government, covering a variety of fields—settlement services, youth work, family support, policy and organisational development. Most recently, she has worked with City of Parramatta Council. Utilising a community capacity building approach, she leads the implementation of a range of domestic and family violence primary prevention projects within Council and externally with community organisations.

Biography
Jacque is the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Challenge DV and brings to the table a depth of experience from the DV sector, together with extensive experience developing and delivering workplace DFV programs to both the public sector and private organisations.
Jacques career covers not only experience in the business sector but also the domestic and family violence sector. Jacque was the Coordinator of Chisholm Women’s Refuge and was the Chairperson for the Combined Women’s Refuge Group of Queensland during 2014 - 2015. Her community and workplace experience provides opportunities to support both outward and inward facing cultural change programs.
Jacque is a survivor of domestic and family violence, a champion for change and brings a lived workplace experience to the table.
