Building Access: Safe, Inclusive and Accessible Services for Women With Disability Experiencing Violence
Abstract
Karina will be presenting on the findings of research conducted with the Building Access Project. It is an innovative initiative enabling DFV services to better meet the needs of women and children with disability. Women with disability experience violence at rates 40% higher than women without disability, yet often don't reach out to DFV services due to the additional barriers they face. Karina will speak to these pre-access barriers and discuss a variety of recommendations and resources for DFV Services, including some easy and low cost ways to make their service safer and more available to women and children with disability.
The findings and recommendations report will be launched and available at the conference should you wish to take a deeper dive into the project.
