Abstract
The Regional Family Violence Partnership (RFVP), in Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne, is committed to valuing the input and advocacy of victim survivors through consultation and continuous involvement, learning from first-hand experience where the system gaps are. Through the co-design and development of policies and procedures to embed family violence victim survivor advocates in our governance committees and working groups, RFVP are centring the voice of lived experience.
Over the period of a year, the RFVP have progressed from concept, to development, endorsement, and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure a robust commitment to include victim survivors in all aspects of the integrated partnerships work in a safe and sustainable way.
Three policies and procedures were developed in partnership with victim survivor advocates and will be shared in full with conference participants.
The policies are:
· Embedding Victim Survivor Advocates on RFVP Governance Groups and Working Groups
· Consultation with Victim Survivor Advocates
· Managing Disclosures
This presentation will look at the value of committing to embedding the voice of lived experience from decision making committees through to working groups and consultation to ensure a systems response that speaks to their needs.
