Employing Triage to Navigate Subconscious Bias and Stigma in Rural and Remote Mental Health Services
Abstract
Centrecare's Portal service is based on a primary health model of care designed to provide consumers with the right care at the right time in their own geographical location. This service covers vast geographical distances and clients could be up to a 10-hour drive apart. A priority of the program focuses on delivering mental health support to people in remote locations.
In addition to covid challenges, presentations in Portal have increased in complexity of support needs as well as referral numbers. In response to this, Centrecare has worked to reduce disparities of access to psychological treatment and support region-wide.
