Rural Resilience: Digital DBT
Presentation Overview
This presentation will delve into the innovative implementation of an accessible DBT program utilizing online platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, specifically tailored for rural clients in the Gympie area. We will outline the comprehensive process of launching this initiative, highlighting key components that ensure its success.
Firstly, we will discuss how the content was adapted to resonate with our target audience, making it both accessible and relatable. This involved extensive consultation with mental health professionals and community members to understand their unique needs and preferences. Additionally, we engaged with internet and telecommunications providers to address connectivity challenges, ensuring that reliable access to online resources was available for all participants.
We will also cover our efforts to obtain affordable devices and training for clients, empowering them to navigate the digital landscape confidently. A focus will be placed on promoting internet safety and awareness, as these are crucial components of effective online learning.
Furthermore, the presentation will analyse engagement metrics and outcomes from our in-house data collected in 2025, comparing these results to previous non-mixed mode or online training methods. By showcasing the tangible improvements in client participation and mental health outcomes, we aim to illustrate the profound impact that technology can have in bridging the mental health support gap in rural communities.
