Destigmatising Dissociation and Multiplicity for Neurodivergent People

Presentation Overview

Three Key Learnings:
1. Have a better understanding of the prevalence of dissociation and multiplicity in the general population.

2. Take away a realistic understanding of how these experiences present, how this is a form of neurodivergence and challenge social stigmas.

3. Begin to understand how to best support people who experience dissociation and multiplicity.

Dissociation and multiplicity are complex experiences prevalent among neurodivergent individuals, often stemming from trauma. This presentation invites listeners to challenge the stigma around multiplicity and dissociative experiences, offering a comprehensive perspective on lived experience and ways of supporting individuals navigating these phenomena. Through personal narratives and professional insights, I will debunk some myths, share effective strategies for daily functioning, underscore the significance of trauma-informed care, and propose methods to foster inclusive environments. Attendees will gain a nuanced understanding of dissociation and multiplicity, shedding light on this as some of the many ways human brains are diverse, and how we can begin to be truly inclusive of all neurodivergent people.
