Parenting with ADHD: From Chaos...to Calm(ish!)
Presentation Overview
Three Key Learnings:
1.Why parenting is harder for adults with ADHD
2. Discover what type of ADHD parent you are
3. How to work with your brain rather than against it
Parenting is demanding, and for parents with ADHD, the challenges can feel overwhelming and isolating. From managing daily responsibilities to maintaining emotional regulation, ADHD impacts both the parent-child dynamic and overall family harmony. This presentation explores why parenting with ADHD can be so challenging and offers strategies to help parents with ADHD navigate family life with greater ease, balance, and confidence.
We will discuss executive functioning skills, time management techniques, and emotional regulation tools specifically designed for ADHD brains. Attendees will learn how to create sustainable routines, set realistic expectations, and implement parenting approaches that support both their own needs and their child’s development. Key topics include:
- Understanding how ADHD affects parenting
- Managing emotional dysregulation in both parent and child
- Reducing overwhelm and decision fatigue
- Practical strategies for discipline and positive reinforcement
This presentation offers both understanding and real-world strategies to help parents feel more in control, reduce daily struggles, and strengthen their connection with their children. Whether parenting a neurodivergent or neurotypical child, participants will leave with actionable tools to create a more structured, compassionate, and fulfilling parenting experience.
