What are the Youth saying!- Innovative digital solutions for improving Wellbeing in community

Abstract

The Stay Strong Youth app is a digital wellbeing intervention designed with and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Young people and Elders based on the evidence of the 20 year program Stay Strong- Menzies. The youth app in the design process heard over 110 young people’s and Elders voices to understand what is needed in the Wellbeing youth space. Innovative strategies and ideas were voiced and implemented into the first draft of this app. The strengths-based, storytelling app integrates education and mental health treatment into a fun, gamified format. It is a brief, supported, and self-guided intervention which embeds guidance from elders, building connection with country and language. It integrates cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based activities.
In this presentation we will discuss the process of co-designing a First Nations Wellbeing app with the voices of the Youth alongside the Elders, designers, developers, researchers and incorporating language.
