Fighting Through - Reconstructing Resilience for War
Presentation Overview
This presentation will outline the Australian Army's conceptual and practical reset in addressing the "resilience gap". It will describe the findings of pilots undertaken at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion and the School of Infantry. It will describe the investment into instructor development and junior leader development as components of a strength based mental conditioning framework. It will describe the opportunities and next steps and the relationship of the outcomes of the reset to Army's response to the findings of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide.
Biography
Colonel Jacqueline Costello is Army's Principle Psychologist with over two decades experience in operational, clinical, staff, and training roles. She is passionate about developing the hearts of minds of Army soldiers for the challenges of war and importantly, for life beyond the battlefield.
