Preparing Frontline Workers for Their Role in Postvention

Presentation Overview

Purpose: This workshop aims to enhance the understanding of postvention and suicide bereavement while equipping frontline workers with basic support skills.

Workshop Description: In this interactive and evidence-informed session, participants will gain crucial skills and knowledge necessary for effective postvention support. The workshop will be facilitated by StandBy Support After Suicide, Australia’s leading suicide postvention service. We will present the latest findings from StandBy's review on best practices in suicide postvention and engage participants in collaborative discussions to identify gaps in current practices within their organisations and communities.

Biography

Tim De Goey is a Partnership Coordinator for StandBy Support After Suicide. Prior to this, Tim spent 15 years as a Frontline Police Officer serving in both the Western Australia and the Queensland Police Service. Tim lost two colleagues’ to suicide within in a 12-month period and is passionate about ensuring first responders are supported by those that no longer stand on the front line.
