Karratha: Powering Australia’s Future Through Liveability and Growth

Presentation Overview

Karratha is more than just a regional city – it is a powerhouse of economic growth, innovation, and opportunity that drives prosperity for the entire nation. With a strong pipeline of new projects on the horizon, Karratha and the Pilbara are critical to Australia’s resource, energy, and emerging clean industry sectors. However, growth is not guaranteed. To sustain our role as an economic driver, we must continue to overcome key challenges, particularly in housing, infrastructure, and workforce attraction.
This presentation will explore how Karratha is enhancing liveability and securing investment in housing and infrastructure. It will highlight past successes in transforming Karratha into a more liveable city, outline the lessons learned and remaining challenges that must be addressed to fully unlock its potential.
A key theme will be the power of collaboration – between government, industry, and communities – as the foundation for long-term, sustainable growth. Strategic investment in liveability, infrastructure, and housing is not just a local issue – it is a national priority. Because when Karratha and the North succeed, the whole country benefits.
