Presentation Overview
Supporting Landholder Capacity for Quality Agricultural Development Applications Across Northern Australia Project
This three-year CRCNA project aimed to enhance landholder capacity for quality agricultural development across Northern Australia (QLD, NT, and WA).
Project partners included: NT Farmers, NT Cattlemen’s Association, Ord River District Co-operative Ltd, Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemen’s Association, AgForce, and Queensland Farmers Federation.
Key question addressed:
What capacity development needs and resources are required to enhance the ability of landholders, industry bodies, and development services to be investment- and development-ready across Northern Australia?
Project focus areas:
Researching the capacity development needs of landholders and their service providers in preparing quality development applications.
Trialing and evaluating the effectiveness of this capacity-building approach.
Project phases:
Needs Assessment – Identifying gaps and requirements.
Development of Capacity-Building Resources – Creating tailored training materials.
Trial Delivery of the Capacity-Building Program – Implementing and testing the approach.
Evaluation and Translation – Assessing impact and refining the program for broader application.
This initiative aimed to create a long-term, sustainable framework for strengthening industry bodies, landholders, and service providers in agricultural development.
The presentation will provide an overview of the project's outcomes and key findings.
As an example, from the ‘needs assessment’. Respondents requested the below
•Consultants who understand conditions of Northern Australia
• Access to government staff for assistance, clarification and to answer questions
• Access to government data on land systems and land resource information
• Access to accurate and consistent data
