Biography

Brendon Hyndman, PhD is a leading school play researcher, teacher and author. He has worked as a school teacher, teacher-educator, university faculty leader and has advised schools and education systems around the world. Hyndman’s research career and approaches have largely revolved around his teaching philosophy of promoting participant-centred and autonomous approaches to education. His globally disseminated school play research has been based upon exploring both student-centred (and student–informed) strategies to provide improved activity choices within outdoor-school-recreation settings. The findings from his research have led to challenging traditional norms within the physical environments of primary and secondary schools. A regular media contributor and passionate play advocate, his recent books have included ‘The Impact of Extreme Weather on Education’, ‘Contemporary School Playground Strategies for Healthy Students’ and ‘Health and Education Interdependence’. Brendon lives in Albury with his wife and two daughters.
