Northern Australia Coalition: A Call for Bold Action in Northern Australia
Presentation Overview
Northern Australia has been the subject of countless reports, white papers and action plans, all emphasising the same message: the North works best when the North works together. Yet too often, collaboration is discussed more than it is delivered.
This address will challenge that status quo and outline a bold vision for Northern Australia’s future — one that demands structured collaboration among peak industry bodies and decisive government action. It will argue that Northern Australia is not three separate economies, but a connected region with shared supply chains, workforce flows and strategic assets critical to the nation’s prosperity.
The speech will explore why telling the North’s story as a national priority is essential, and why investment in social infrastructure is as important as roads, ports and defence bases. It will call for policy settings that reflect northern realities, including consideration of Special Economic Zones and positioning Northern Australia as underpinning Australia’s energy, strategic and economic prosperity.
Finally, it will present a clear call to action: a coalition of Chambers and peak bodies working together to shape policy, advocate with one voice and pursue what the speaker calls 'The Northern Australia Voice' — collectively working together under a shared brand that delivers a transformative, nation-building approach that delivers for Northern Australia.
This is not about another report or promise. It is about collaboration that counts, policy that works and action that lasts.
