Kuop Maaman

Presentation Overview

Kuop Maaman—meaning “Good Men” in Noongar—centres cultural identity, community belonging, and traditional values as foundations for healing and accountability in addressing family and domestic violence. This presentation explores how strength in culture offers a powerful alternative to deficit-based models, empowering Aboriginal men to step into roles as nurturers, protectors, and cultural leaders. Through on-Country practices, yarning circles, and ancestral teachings, Kuop Maaman reclaims cultural authority to support safer families and stronger communities. By reawakening connection to self, kin, and culture, the program opens pathways for intergenerational healing and transformative change grounded in cultural responsibility.
