Outcomes of a pilot integrated clinic for DFV survivors in the Northern Sydney LHD.

Presentation Overview

In 2024 the NSW Ministry of Health provided funding for the Prevention and Response to Violence Abuse and Neglect Services, Northern Sydney Local Health District, to pilot a domestic and family violence integrated clinic.

The Clinic, named the Lorikeet Clinic, started accepting patients in August 2024. The Lorikeet Clinic is a free, trauma-informed service that supports people living in the local health district who have experienced domestic and/or family violence in the past 12 months. The clinic sees patients who have unmet health needs or a need for documentation of violence, including forensic documentation of injuries, in a bookable clinic with psychosocial support. This support includes risk assessment, safety planning, access to trauma counselling, and advocacy including supported referrals to community services and a trauma informed GP.

We will present our data on the characteristics and outcomes for patients attending the pilot Domestic and Family Violence Integrated Clinic (Lorikeet Clinic) in the Northern Sydney Local Health District between 1st August 2024 to 30 June 2025.
This data includes the demographic details, reasons for referral, services provided and prevalence of Non- Fatal Strangulation and head injury in this population.

We will also present qualitative data that documents the patient experience of accessing the integrated domestic and family violence clinic, and use a case study to demonstrate a patient’s journey through the service.
