Optimising investment in social impact: Insights from the for-purpose sector
Abstract
Drawing from firsthand experiences within the for-purpose sector, Sustainability Focus embarked on a research journey to uncover patterns in the effectiveness of corporate social investment. Through honest dialogues with peers, qualitative data was gathered to dissect social investment strategies and their conversion into tangible value in generating place-based solutions to social challenges.
Exploring the effectiveness of corporate social investment initiatives in Northern communities, this presentation unveils insights derived from a series of candid conversations held with leaders at the helm of for-purpose organisations across Australia. Delving into what truly adds value and what falls short, we dissect the underlying dynamics shaping these outcomes.
Navigating the landscape of community sentiment is crucial for impactful social investment. We delve into strategies to authentically gauge community needs and sentiments, and the resulting analysis of:
• What’s working well?
• What’s not working well? And,
• Learnings and recommendations arising from this research.
Effective, place-based solutions and the for-purpose sector go hand-in-hand. This presentation identifies crucial gaps in current approaches and unveils unspoken needs of for-purpose organisations essential for their sustainable delivery of these solutions.
By leveraging lived experiences and best practices, we aim to foster solutions that fortify the fabric of our Northern communities, centered around empowering for-purpose organisations towards the socio-economic development of our regions.
