Influencing and working with Jobs and Skills Australia and Jobs and Skills Councils
Abstract
The Australian Government is focused on supporting jobs and skills across Australia, and have established Jobs and Skills Australia (JSA) and 10 new Jobs and Skills Councils (JSC).
During the workshop, JSA will provide an outline of their data and sources, and present data relevant to Northern Australia. Each of the JSCs in attendance will do a short presentation on their industry coverage and roles.
Delegates will then work with others in their industries to identify and report directly the jobs and skills issues they are experiencing to JSA and the JSCs, which will feed into the workforce planning for these bodies with a unique Northern Australia perspective.
This is an opportunity for delegates to ask questions of and build relationships with the bodies that will be advising the Federal Government on jobs and skills issues in their industries from an industry perspective. This is also an opportunity to ensure that the interests of Northern Australia are included in national workforce planning, in particular around access to a trained and skilled workforce and to Vocational Education and Training that is delivered and meets needs.
